Definition: Massage Services therapies are manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being
While I have a long list of massage modalities I can provide, I’ve listed the most popular forms of the massage. During your assessment, I will go over the best style of massage for your body’s specific needs. With all massages except Maternity massage, I use Rocky Mountain therapeutic grade essential oils.
TYPES OF MASSAGE
♦ SWEDISH MASSAGE
“Swedish” massage is referred to as “classic massage”. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, alleviate stress and promote relaxation.
♦ SPORTS MASSAGE
The science of applying massage and related techniques to ensure the health and well being of the athlete. Sports massage is shown to enhance athletic performance, aid recovery time, and is good for general body maintenance of the athlete.
♦ DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Similar to Swedish massage but uses deep pressure friction and muscle stripping techniques to break down adhesion in the muscles and tendons.
♦ TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Trigger points are hyperirritable spots in the muscles or related connective tissue that may cause local pain, or pain in a referral zone. Trigger points can be alleviated manually with ischemic compression, deep friction or muscle stripping.
♦ MATERNITY MASSAGE
Body work that meets the needs and relieves the discomfort of pregnancy.
♦ GERIATRIC MASSAGE
Light touch massage designed to stimulate the body’s functions without overtaxing the body’s systems. Also good for chronic pain syndromes.
♦ NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is defined as the utilization of static pressure on specific myofascial points to relieve pain.
♦ INFANT MASSAGE
Involves soft tissue manipulation and joint movements. This style of massage has shown to relieve colic in newborns.
♦ LYMPHATIC DRAIN MASSAGE
Is a gentle form of massage without a stimulating effect. It is designed to help move lymph fluid through the system. This style of massage is beneficial for breast, colon, prostate or bladder cancer whose surgery includes removal of lymph nodes.
OTHER SERVICES
♦ AROMATHERAPY
The use of natural oils extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots to enhance physical and physiological well being. Essential oils can be inhaled by diffusion or absorbed through the skin, both allow the oils to enter the bloodstream and can promote whole body healing.
♦ EAR CANDELING
A form of alternative therapy using an ear candle to draw the earwax and other impurities out of the ear canal.
